Working with marginal farmers & women micro entrepreneurs- Successful Adaptations to Drifting Farm Income. The supply chain from farmers to consumers is totally integrated. Farmers are identified, grouped as organic farmers groups, trained in organic farming practices, pest control measures, etc, supplied organic seeds of local variety The crops are monitored by the FPOs and internal control systems within the farmers groups for organic practices at least once in a monthFields are presented for inspection and certification by APEDA accredited agencies like ADITI and KSOCA

Innovation

At Future Greens, we belive that innovations are the edifices for our interventions. These would lead to improved access to market opportunities, growth and hence poverty reduction. We approach farm based livelihoods through solutions in the markets.

  1. The innovations in collective marketing: Transparency in pricing and spot payments are the critical factors associated with agribusiness marketing. Virtual aggregation and live weight based pricing for sheep and goats, Competitive and dynamic pricing mechanisms for organic crops, promoting local variety seeds and enabling markets for marginal crops are a few examples. We have been able to encourage millets and minor pulses that were becoming rare in the region. The Outcome: An average 12% additional price realization to farmers when compared to local mandis.
  2. Institutional innovations: producer owned professionally managed collectives, collaborations with other agencies.
  3. Managing Natural Resources: sustainable practices, agro-biodiversity, soil and water conservation
  4. Livelihood triad encompassing financial, institutional development and livelihood promotional services are embedded strategies.

Our Mission

We strive hard to work towards a just equitable society where in the all participants within an economy enjoy benefits of safe food, safe environment and a healthy living by engaging in market driven economic activity.  Achieve just equitable society of rural communities, adapting sustainable technologies to enhance natural resources, and the markets to foster entrepreneurship. Thus, we have envisaged participatory approach, building peoples’ institutions, market access and productivity enhancement services as our methodology. As part of our mission, we have already promoted 3 community owned FPOs around organic crops, vegetables and livestock. Thus, as intervention strategy, we are addressing the complete livelihood triad encompassing institutions, finance and support services like technical inputs and collective marketing of the produces.

Interventions for enhanced productivity and price realization, assisting them earn additional Rs 68 millions, thereby strengthening livelihoods of 11214 families.

Reaching  50,000 marginal farm families through agribusiness collectives, enhancing productivity by 8%, helping them earn additional Rs 200 millions annually.
